Dust Collection Case Study

A prominent cosmetics manufacturer called one day to solve a problem where light airborne dust was escaping into nearby offices.

Cosmetics Manufacturing

Background

One day, a prominent cosmetics manufacturer called to discuss an issue where fine airborne dust escaped into nearby offices. The settling dust negatively impacted air quality and led to several problems the customer needed to address.

The Problem

As the customer scooped powder from a 55-gallon barrel into a smaller container, significant amounts of cosmetic dust escaped and settled on ledges and flat surfaces.

The Solution

We recommend the PDC-XP1000 Portable Dust Collector, which includes an upgraded explosion-proof motor and starter, along with fully grounded and XP-safe components. This ensures the unit meets NFPA 660 standards for ST1 dust in ORDLOC. The Plant Manager reported that the portable XP collector effectively addressed the issue, allowing them to collect powders without the worry of an unwanted dust cloud.
